  • June 2017: We wrote a white paper, and presented our work on the influences of culture on pedagogy and educational technologies to the Global Learning Council in Berlin 2017 πŸ™‚
  • May 2017: My book chapter on “Learning About Learning Through Participatory Design with Families” was published πŸ™‚
  • April 2017:Β Our Journal Paper “A Personalized Assistive Web for Improving Scanning and Skimming in Mobile Web Browsing” was accepted to the ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction. Wish us luck! This work was done nwith my UMBC advisor Dr. Dongsong Zhang and Dr. Lina Zhou. Β πŸ™‚
  • March 2017: I reviewed 2 conference papers from the ACM Computer Supported Collaborative Learning Proceedings
  • January 2017: Our short paper on ELL Struggle Detection was accepted as a short paper to Learning at Scale 2017 πŸ™‚
  • October 2016: I reviewed a Journal paper from the ACM Transactions of Accessible Computing Proceedings
  • September 2016: I passed my Communication Talk Requirement @ CMU – Step 1 of 3 graduation requirements complete πŸ™‚
  • April 2016: Attended Learning @ Scale conference in Edinburgh, Scotland, and presented 2 of our short papers.
  • February 2016: Our IP vs Browser Identification paper was accepted as a short paper to Learning @ Scale 2016 πŸ™‚
  • January 2016: We submitted a paper to the Intelligent Tutoring Systems Conference. Accepted as a short paper πŸ™‚

  • October 2015: I submitted a paper “Understanding ESL student Motivations to Increase MOOC Accessibility” to the 2016 Learning @ Scale Conference with Amy Ogan, Jessica Hammer and Evelyn Yarzebinsky. Accepted asΒ  short paper ! πŸ™‚
  • September 2015: I submitted two papers to the CHI 2015 conference. One with my IBM team under Dr. Justin Weisz, and the other with my awesome UMD team under Dr. Tamara Clegg, Dr. June Ahn, and Dr. Jason Yip. Wish us luck! 1 paper accepted πŸ™‚
  • September 2015: I have officially declared my advisors – Amy Ogan and Ken Koedinger. Super excited!!
  • August 2015: I was awarded a Carnegie Mellon Presidential Fellowship which funds my PhD program for an entire year πŸ™‚
  • August 2015: I officially started as a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon’s Human Computer Interaction Institute.
  • July 2015: I conducted my first large scale survey from 7200 unique respondents from Mechanical Turk.
  • May 2015: I’ll be interning this summer at IBM TJ Watson Research Lab under Justin Weisz – the very best manager on the planet!!!
  • Apr 2015: Starting from the Fall of 2015, I’ll be joining the Human Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University as a PhD Student.
  • Apr 2015: Our paper entitled “PRECMAS: A Personalized, Cloud-based Integrative Approach to Mobile Web Adaptation” was accepted for publication in the 21st Americas Conference on Information Systems. πŸ™‚ This work was done with my UMBC advisor Dr. Dongsong Zhang and Dr. Lina Zhou.
  • Mar 2015: Two patent applications will be filed with my name on them πŸ™‚
  • Mar 2015: I was a judge at the G.E Peters Adventist School Science Fair on March 22nd.
  • Feb 2015: We presented our Future of Information Alliance design competition entry at the KID Museum in Bethesda, MD.
  • Nov 2014: I participated in the Future of Information Alliance design competition hosted by the University of Maryland and the Barrie School in Maryland. Our team came second πŸ™‚
  • Nov 2014: We submitted a paper Navigating Connected Inquiry Learning with ScienceKit to Computer Supported Collaborative Learning 2015. This paper is by Daniel Pauw, Dr. Tamara Clegg, Dr. June Ahn, Elizabeth Bonsignore, Dr. Jason Yip, and I. Please be sure to check out their research pages and wish us luck. PAPER ACCEPTED!! πŸ™‚
  • Sept 2014: This year, I’m so excited about working with Dr. Tamera Clegg and Dr. June Ahn from UMD on their Science Everywhere Project.
  • May 2014: I was accepted to attend the LearnLab’s Annual Learning Science Workshop Research and Innovation for Enhancing Achievement and Equity at Carnegie Mellon and the University in Pittsburgh.
  • May 2014: I’ll be interning this summer at IBM TJ Watson Research Lab under Justin Weisz. Super excited!!!
  • Apr 2014: I got accepted and presented a poster to the CRA-W Grad Cohort Workshop and Santa Clara, CA.
  • Mar 2014: I attended the National Society of Black Engineers Conference at Nashville, TN.
